The Road to Salvation

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16–17, NLT)

Your life may be very different from mine, you may be rich, poor, young, old, sick or healthy but there are some things that connect us all. We are all descended from Adam and Eve who were created by God. When they disobeyed God and sinned the race of mankind fell. God is a loving God, but we must remember that his love is a holy love. God has standards that we have all failed to meet so we need help to avoid God’s judgement and live in relationship with God as he has always intended.

You can be saved from the judgement you deserve for breaking God’s law by putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Through his sacrifice on the cross, your sins can be washed away and the door can be opened for you to live with God forever. Humbly read the following verses, let them speak to you and then pray, confessing your trust in Jesus.

Step One: Know Your Need

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23, ESV)

We have all broken at least some of the ten commandments, for example, everyone reading or hearing this has told a lie… even if you only break one command you are guilty before God.

Step Two: Know the Penalty of Sin

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, ESV)

This is both physical death and the second death which will see those who are guilty of breaking God’s law separated from God forever in a place of torment and suffering called Hell.

Step Three: Know God’s Provision

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, ESV)

This is the good news. God has made a way for you to be saved by allowing Jesus Christ to die for us. We broke God’s law but Jesus paid our fine.

Step Four: Know How to Respond

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

(Romans 10:9, ESV)

This is what you need to do, you need to respond to the truth of the Gospel by proclaiming that Yes, Jesus is Lord, he is the king and you want to be a part of his kingdom.

Step Five: Make a Decision

The decision is yours, take time to speak to god about what you have read and heard here. If you are unsure about anything ask God to lead you to a good Christian who can help to answer those questions from the Bible

It is important that you find a good church, where the bible is believed and taught so that you can grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ
